Your audio is ready
Why this tool
- You can see the sound. The waveform shows where the audio actually is, so silence is easy to cut.
- Nothing is uploaded. The work happens inside your browser; your file is never sent to a server.
- Save as WAV or FLAC and nothing changes. What you keep comes out exactly as it went in.
- No install and no account.
How to use it
- Drop an audio file in, or click to choose one.
- Drag the handles on the waveform to set the range. Play it back to check.
- Press "Cut it out", listen to confirm, then download.
Questions
Is my file uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, and this site has no way to receive your file.
Can I check for myself that nothing is uploaded?
Yes. Open this page, then disconnect from the internet. With the connection off, you can still choose a file and save the result.
For the first few seconds after the page opens, it is still fetching the parts it needs, so wait a moment before disconnecting. Reloading the page needs the connection again.
Note that some of the other tools on this site fetch extra parts after reading your file — for example, the character tables needed to show a PDF that does not embed its fonts. If you have a data-saving setting turned on, nothing is fetched ahead of time either, so a connection is needed then too.
How do I set the range?
Three ways: drag the handles on the waveform, play and press "Start here" / "End here", or type the times (1:23.4 and 83.4 both work). The handles also move with the arrow keys (hold Shift for one-second steps).
Does trimming lose quality?
Not if you save as WAV or FLAC — what you keep is written out unchanged. Saving as MP3, M4A or Opus rebuilds the audio after the cut, which loses a little. If your source is MP3 and you want no further loss, choose FLAC (the file will be bigger).
Which formats can I open?
MP3, WAV, M4A (AAC and ALAC), FLAC, Ogg (Vorbis and Opus), WebM, AIFF — almost anything your browser can play. You can save as MP3, M4A, Opus, FLAC or WAV.
How long a file can it handle?
Up to 300MB, and roughly an hour of audio, because the whole file is held in memory.
Can I cut something out of the middle?
This tool keeps one range. If what you want to keep is in two pieces, cut it out twice.
I want to trim a video
That is what the video trimmer is for. Cutting only the end keeps the original quality.
How much can I use for free? Are there limits?
Every feature, as many times as you like. There is no daily cap, nothing changes if you sign up, and you will never be asked to pay later.
There is a limit on file size, but it comes from what a browser can handle at once. The work runs on your own device, so there is nothing for us to meter. The exact figures are in the other answers on this page.
Does this work on a phone?
Yes. Please keep the following in mind.
- Long audio can stop partway. About an hour is the rough limit. A computer has more room.
- Keep this page open while it works. Switching to another app stops it.
- Some formats, such as Opus, cannot be made on an iPhone. Choose another format if it fails.
- Saved files go to the Files app. To put them in Photos, use "Share" next to the download button.
