Why this tool
- Dropped pages are really gone. The pages you keep are copied into a new PDF, so the text and images of the pages you dropped are not left behind in the file.
- Pick pages by sight. Click a thumbnail to keep or drop it.
- Reorder and rotate. Swap the order, or turn a sideways page the right way up.
- Nothing is uploaded. The work happens inside your browser.
- No install, no account, no watermark.
How to use it
- Drop a PDF in, or click to choose one.
- Pick the pages to keep. You can also type them, as in "1-3, 7, 10-12".
- Use ↑ ↓ to change the order and ⟳ to turn a page, if you need to.
- Press "Save these pages" and download the result.
Questions
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, and this site has no way to receive your file.
Can I check for myself that nothing is uploaded?
Yes. Open this page, then disconnect from the internet. With the connection off, you can still choose a file and save the result.
For the first few seconds after the page opens, it is still fetching the parts it needs, so wait a moment before disconnecting. Reloading the page needs the connection again.
Note that opening a PDF that does not embed its fonts fetches the character tables needed to show the text, which needs a connection — common with Japanese PDFs. If you have a data-saving setting turned on, nothing is fetched ahead of time either, so a connection is needed then too.
Are the dropped pages really removed?
Yes. This tool copies the pages you keep into a new PDF. The other common approach — deleting pages from the original and saving it again — reduces the page count but can leave the text and images of those pages inside the file. When you are sending someone part of a contract or a quote, that difference matters.
Can I crop part of a page?
This tool works a page at a time. Cropping a PDF usually just narrows the visible area, and the text outside the frame stays in the file. If there is something you need gone, drop the whole page.
How do I type a page range?
Write it as "1-3, 7, 10-12". Spaces are fine, and a backwards range like "7-3" is read as pages 3 to 7.
Can I use a password-protected PDF?
No. Even a PDF that opens without a password may carry a permissions lock. In that case the tool stops before saving and tells you so. Remove the protection first, then try again.
How large a PDF can I use?
Up to 200MB and 2000 pages. Even a 2000-page PDF opens in about a second, though the thumbnails take around 40 seconds to fill in (they appear from the top). You can type the page numbers without waiting for them. Very large files may not open on a device with little free memory.
Will the file get smaller?
Usually. Things shared across pages, such as fonts, stay in the file, so the saving is less than the proportion of pages removed — and if you keep nearly every page the result can come out about the same size, or a little larger. The before and after sizes are shown when it finishes.
Are bookmarks and form fields kept?
No. Bookmarks, form fields, attachments and document metadata are not carried over, and links pointing at dropped pages are removed. Those are exactly the things that drag a dropped page's contents along with them, and removing them for real comes first. Links within a kept page, and links that open a URL, stay.
Is my page order kept?
Yes — the PDF is written in the order shown on screen, and the order is spelled out on screen whenever it is not simply ascending. Note that retyping the range resets it to ascending page numbers.
How much can I use for free? Are there limits?
Every feature, as many times as you like. There is no daily cap, nothing changes if you sign up, and you will never be asked to pay later.
There is a limit on file size, but it comes from what a browser can handle at once. The work runs on your own device, so there is nothing for us to meter. The exact figures are in the other answers on this page.
Does this work on a phone?
Yes. Please keep the following in mind.
- A PDF with many pages can take a long time, or stop partway.
- Keep this page open while it works. Switching to another app stops it.
- Saved files go to the Files app. To put them in Photos, use "Share" next to the download button.
