How small do you need it?
Email encodes attachments before sending them, which makes them about 1.3× larger in transit. Aiming exactly at the limit often bounces, so the two email targets leave room.

Why this tool
- You name the size. Say "under 10MB" and the resolution and quality are picked to fit.
- Nothing is uploaded. The work happens inside your browser; your video is never sent to a server.
- You see the trade-off before you start. If a size is impossible, it says so up front.
- No install, no account, no watermark.
How to use it
- Drop a video in, or click to choose one.
- Pick a target such as "Email attachment", or set your own size.
- Press "Shrink it", watch the result to check it, then download.
Questions
Is my video uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, and this site has no way to receive your video.
Can I check for myself that nothing is uploaded?
Yes. Open this page, then disconnect from the internet. With the connection off, you can still choose a file and save the result.
For the first few seconds after the page opens, it is still fetching the parts it needs, so wait a moment before disconnecting. Reloading the page needs the connection again.
Note that some of the other tools on this site fetch extra parts after reading your file — for example, the character tables needed to show a PDF that does not embed its fonts. If you have a data-saving setting turned on, nothing is fetched ahead of time either, so a connection is needed then too.
Will it fit exactly in the size I choose?
It fits, but it does not land exactly on that number — it comes out a little under. After it is done, the page tells you whether it fit.
How much quality do I lose?
It depends on the size you pick and on how long and how large the video is. Before you start, the page says whether quality "barely drops" or "drops a lot", so you can change the target.Shorter videos fit into the same size more cleanly.
What happens to the resolution?
If the size you chose allows it, the video keeps its original resolution. If not, it is stepped down until the picture still looks reasonable (1080p to 720p, for example). Portrait videos keep their orientation.
What size should I use for email?
10MB is a safe limit for most mail servers. Gmail accepts up to 25MB. If you are unsure, choose 10MB.
How long does it take?
It depends on the length and resolution — roughly one to two minutes per minute of 1080p. You can press "Stop" at any time.
What happens to the audio?
It is kept. If the size you chose leaves no room for the picture, the audio quality is lowered, or the audio is left out — and the page tells you before you start.
Can I choose the format?
MP4, or WebM (VP9 and AV1). WebM looks better at the same size but plays on fewer devices. To change only the format, use the video converter.
How much can I use for free? Are there limits?
Every feature, as many times as you like. There is no daily cap, nothing changes if you sign up, and you will never be asked to pay later.
There is a limit on file size, but it comes from what a browser can handle at once. The work runs on your own device, so there is nothing for us to meter. The exact figures are in the other answers on this page.
Does this work on a phone?
Yes. Please keep the following in mind.
- Large videos can stop partway. A few hundred MB is the rough limit. A computer has more room.
- Keep this page open while it works. Switching to another app stops it.
- Some formats, such as AV1, cannot be made on an iPhone. Choose another format if it fails.
- Saved files go to the Files app. To put them in Photos, use "Share" next to the download button.
