Record your screen with just a browser
Free, with no limits. No watermark. Everything happens inside your browser, so your files are never uploaded.
When you press the button, you are asked where to save and then which screen to record.
You are asked where to save first. The recording is written straight there, so it can run for hours.
To include your computer sound, tick "Share audio" in that dialog.

Questions
Is my recording uploaded anywhere?
No. Recording and saving happen entirely inside your browser. This site has no way to receive your video, so it is safe to record screens that contain confidential material.
Can I check for myself that nothing is uploaded?
Yes. Open this page, then disconnect from the internet. With the connection off, you can still record and save the video.
For the first few seconds after the page opens, it is still fetching the parts it needs, so wait a moment before disconnecting. Reloading the page needs the connection again.
Note that some of the other tools on this site fetch extra parts after reading your file — for example, the character tables needed to show a PDF that does not embed its fonts. If you have a data-saving setting turned on, nothing is fetched ahead of time either, so a connection is needed then too.
My computer sound is not recorded
Tick "Share audio" in the dialog where you choose what to share. On Windows you can share audio when you pick a whole screen or a tab. On macOS the browser only allows tab audio, not system-wide sound.
The sound in my recording gets louder and quieter. Can I record it cleanly?
Computer and tab sound is recorded at high quality with the browser's sound processing (automatic volume, noise suppression and echo cancellation) turned off. Your microphone is also recorded as it is by default.
If your speakers can be heard in your voice, use headphones or turn on "Reduce microphone noise and echo". With it on, your voice may sound a little muffled and its volume may change on its own.
Does it work on a phone?
No. Phone browsers do not offer screen capture. Use the built-in recorder on iOS or Android instead.
Will a long recording stop halfway?
Tick "Choose where to save first" and the recording is written to disk as it goes, so it never fills up memory. When that option is not shown, the recording is held in memory, so keep it to a few tens of minutes.
What format do I get?
MP4 when your browser supports it, otherwise WebM. Both play in the standard players and video editors on a computer.
How much can I use for free? Are there limits?
Every feature, as many times as you like. There is no daily cap, nothing changes if you sign up, and you will never be asked to pay later.
There is a limit on file size, but it comes from what a browser can handle at once. The work runs on your own device, so there is nothing for us to meter. The exact figures are in the other answers on this page.
