Why this trimmer
- Nothing is uploaded. The cut happens inside your browser; the video is never sent to a server.
- Cutting only the end is lossless. The original video data is repacked as-is, so quality stays and it finishes instantly.
- Cutting the start is exact. That part is rebuilt so the cut lands exactly where you asked.
- No install and no account.
How to use it
- Drop a video in, or click to choose one.
- Play it, then press "Start here" and "End here" at the points you want to keep.
- Press "Play what you keep" to check. You can also type the times (for example 1:23.4).
- Press "Cut to this range" and download the result.
Questions
Is my video uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, and this site has no way to receive your video.
Can I check for myself that nothing is uploaded?
Yes. Open this page, then disconnect from the internet. With the connection off, you can still choose a file and save the result.
For the first few seconds after the page opens, it is still fetching the parts it needs, so wait a moment before disconnecting. Reloading the page needs the connection again.
Note that some of the other tools on this site fetch extra parts after reading your file — for example, the character tables needed to show a PDF that does not embed its fonts. If you have a data-saving setting turned on, nothing is fetched ahead of time either, so a connection is needed then too.
Why does it say the video will be rebuilt?
Video can only start playing from a "keyframe". When there is no keyframe at your start point, the video has to be rebuilt so playback can begin exactly there. Cutting only the end never needs this.
Which formats are supported?
MP4 (H.264 and similar). Most phone recordings and screen recordings are in this format.
Can I use it on long videos?
Up to roughly 40 minutes. The whole video is loaded into the browser to work on it, so anything longer cannot be handled (the tool says so when that happens). Cutting the start also rebuilds the video, so longer clips take longer; cutting only the end stays instant.
How much can I use for free? Are there limits?
Every feature, as many times as you like. There is no daily cap, nothing changes if you sign up, and you will never be asked to pay later.
There is a limit on file size, but it comes from what a browser can handle at once. The work runs on your own device, so there is nothing for us to meter. The exact figures are in the other answers on this page.
Does this work on a phone?
Yes. Please keep the following in mind.
- Large videos can stop partway. A few hundred MB is the rough limit. A computer has more room.
- Keep this page open while it works. Switching to another app stops it.
- Saved files go to the Files app. To put them in Photos, use "Share" next to the download button.
