Simple video editor
Free, with no limits and no watermark. Everything happens inside your browser, and your files are never uploaded.
This tool is made for computers. On a phone the screen is too small to work the timeline properly.

Done
Why this tool
- Add up to 50 media files. Drop in videos, images and audio together, and each file is recognised by its content.
- Arrange it on a timeline. Drag to choose which part of each file plays, and when.
- Layer it. Add video rows to put images or video on top, and audio rows to stack as much music and as many sound effects as you need.
- Handle picture and sound separately. A video is placed as a paired picture and sound clip. Turn the sound clip's volume down, or delete it to keep the picture without its sound.
- Add fades. Drag the dots on a clip's top corners to fade pictures and sound in and out.
- Add text. Choose the typeface, size, colour, outline and a dark band, and drag it where you want it in the preview.
- Change position, size and opacity. Make picture-in-picture shots or a see-through logo.
- Undo. Made a mistake? Press Undo (Ctrl+Z).
- Nothing is uploaded. The work happens inside your browser.
How to use it

- Check the preview, then press "Save the video" and download the result.
Questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, and this site has no way to receive your files.
Which file types can I add?
Video such as MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV; audio such as MP3, M4A (AAC), WAV, OGG and FLAC; and images such as PNG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF, GIF and BMP. Some files use an encoding your browser cannot read, and you will be told when that happens.
An animated GIF is used as a still image of its first frame. Convert iPhone HEIC photos to JPEG first.
How do video layers stack?
Higher rows sit in front. Put a video on "Video 1" and a logo image on "Video 2" above it, and the logo shows over the video. Each item starts centred and sized to fit the frame. Click it in the preview to show a yellow frame, drag it to move it, and drag the bottom-right corner to resize it. You can also set its opacity.
Can I remove or replace the sound of a video?
Yes. A video is placed as two paired clips, picture on a video row and sound on an audio row. Select the sound clip and delete it: the picture stays and only the sound goes, and you can put music in its place. Press "Separate picture and sound" in the selected clip panel when you want to move the two to different spots.
Can I fade in and fade out?
Yes. Hover over a clip and drag the dots on its top corners inwards, or type the seconds in the selected clip panel. Choose an even or smooth shape. Pictures fade into the row below (or black), and sound fades in volume.
Where can I find music and sound effects?
"Find free music and sound effects" in the editor lists sites with free material. Download from there, then add the file to the Media area.
What you may do with each file (use in videos, credits, commercial use) differs by site and by track. Always check the site’s terms.
How long can a video be?
Up to 30 minutes, with up to 50 media files of 4GB each. Longer videos take longer to save.
How long does saving take?
About as long as the video, or longer, depending on your computer, how many layers you use, and the size and quality you pick. Choosing 720p makes it quicker.
Can I add text captions?
Yes. Press "Add text" on the timeline to place a 3-second caption at the playhead. Type in the selected clip panel and choose the typeface, size, colour, outline and a dark band. Drag it in the preview, or use Top and Bottom. The fonts are the ones installed on your computer.
Can I crossfade between scenes?
Put the next clip on the row above, overlapping the end of the previous clip, and give the upper clip a fade-in. The picture changes smoothly over the overlap. Do the same with sound for a smooth audio change.
Can I save my project and continue later?
Yes. Your edit (arrangement, fades, positions, captions and settings) is saved automatically in your browser. Next time you open this page you will see "Your previous edit is still here". Press "Continue editing" and choose your media files again (you can select them all at once); they are matched by name and size and put back in place.
The media files themselves are not stored in the browser, because they can be several gigabytes. Nothing is sent anywhere, and the saved edit opens only in this browser on this computer. Clearing your browsing data also clears it. If you open this tool in two tabs, only the tab you opened first saves its edit.
How much can I use for free? Are there limits?
Every feature, as many times as you like. No daily limit, no account, and nothing to pay later. The limits on length and number of files come from what a browser can handle in one go.
Does this work on a phone?
It is not recommended. The screen is too small for fine timeline work, and saving on a phone is slow and can stop partway. Please use Chrome or Edge on a computer.
