Questions

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser, and this site has no way to receive your images.

Can I check that for myself?

You can. Once this page has loaded, disconnect from the internet. You can still choose images and convert them from start to finish.

Right after the page opens, it spends a few seconds loading the parts it needs. Disconnect after that. Reloading the page needs a connection again.

How much can I use for free? Are there limits?

Every feature, as many times as you like. No daily limit, no account, and nothing to pay later. There is a cap of 100MB per image, 500MB in total and 300 images at once, which is what a browser can handle in one go.

Can it convert HEIC photos from an iPhone?

When you choose a photo on an iPhone or iPad, the browser hands it over as a JPEG automatically, so you can convert it to PNG or anything else right away.

A HEIC file saved on a computer cannot be read here. Convert it to JPEG first, with Photos or Paint on Windows.

What happens to a GIF or animated WebP?

The animation is not kept: only the first frame is converted. To pick a particular frame, use "Frames from an animation".

Which sizes should go in an ICO?

For a site favicon.ico, 16px, 32px and 48px are enough, and those three are ticked already. Add 256px for an app icon, or if it has to hold up when shown large.

Is location data removed?

Yes. Converting redraws the image, so the place, the time and the camera model are not carried over. It is a simple way to strip location data from a photo before sending it to someone.

Does this work on a phone?

Yes. Please keep the following in mind.
